If I think back through my last 40-something years on this earth, I can recall a handful of events that changed my life. I had no idea that CrossFit would be one of them.
I have always been passionate about fitness and nutrition so it was no surprise that I became a dietitian and coached fitness as an adult. As a child, I was involved in all types of dance, performing in Nutcracker productions and talent shows. When I became a mom, my commitment to exercise continued however I was limited to exercise videos. I did every video from Tae Bo to Turbo Jam. On November 17, 2009 fitness as I knew it changed forever. It was on this day that I walked into Shoreline Athletics, met Kelly and completed Cindy for the first time. Needless to say, I was hooked.
From 2010-2013, with my three daughters watching, I competed at CrossFit Northeast Regionals. In 2017, I closed out my competitive career finishing 70th worldwide in the CrossFit Masters division (40-44). After 7+ years of pushing myself mentally and physically, my body was telling me I needed scale back. The transition from being a competitor was hard and humbling but taught me a lot about my relationship with exercise and how it may not have been the “healthiest”. I had to learn how to approach CrossFit from a more compassionate place, basing my workouts on what was right for me rather than what was the most competitive. I still struggle at times scaling back, going lighter or modifying a workout but I know what truly matters isn’t the weight I lift or the rounds I achieve…it’s about the process, having fun, and be with some pretty awesome people while doing it.
As a dietitian and CrossFit coach it is my goal to help you achieve long-term health and wellbeing. In my opinion, SA has mastered the programming that supports this goal. Everyone at SA is dedicated to helping you be your healthiest self, whatever that looks like for you.
